Highlighting attributes such as sustainability, global influences, holistic health and indulgent flavors, recent launches in the dairy category are keeping milk-producing cows on the payroll.

As new product development, food technology and consumer preference have evolved, so too, has U.S. dairy consumption. Per 2020 data from The International Dairy Foods Association, “The average American consumed 655 pounds of dairy in milk, cheese, yogurt, ice cream, butter, and other wholesome and nutritious dairy foods, demonstrating a resilient and growing love for all things dairy. The 2020 figure represents an increase of 3 pounds per person over the previous year.”

The following sampling of products on retail shelves exemplifies the ongoing appeal of the dairy category—with brands opting to promote aspects such as sustainability, global influences, holistic health and indulgent flavors.
